Membership & Support

The group is a non-profit, hobby related, group of individuals with no paid members, no non-paying group members and is subject to the rules of a club as governed by an elected group of officers.

Membership of the group is £25 per group year (April to March). The fees are used to procure both the group’s dedicated servers, licence fees, annual AGM venue and other incidental outgoings.

We have an active Google Group to discuss and solve any issues. A ‘wiki’ book records information on how to use the database

We welcome members to play an active role at our Annual General Meetings (AGMs) where we can all discuss future developments .
AGMs are followed by a trip around the venue. Past venues include Baldonnel and Weston in Ireland, Barton, Turweston, Perth, Carlisle, Weston-super-Mare Helicopter Museum, Sherburn in Elmet and Sywell.

Sometimes we get the chance to arrange an airfield visit. These have included RAF Shawbury, RAF Cosford, RNAS Culdrose, RNAS Yeovilton, RNAS Predannack and BAe Warton.

System Requirements

The Pacific Aviation Database Group (PADG) system requires the following

  • Microsoft Windows 8 or newer, preferably 64-bit
  • Microsoft Access 2016 or newer (note that Microsoft Access Runtime can be utilised if necessary)
  • A minimum 4GB of RAM
  • A minimum of 2GB of disk space
  • A reliable, reasonable speed connection to the internet
The group can provide assistance for installation and setup.

The PADG system is managed and maintained using a customised application (RunPADG) which facilitates the updating of the core database and system infrastructure. Full information on RunPADG will be provided upon joining.

The integration with aviation radar tracking systems, such as PlanePlotter, Kinetics Basestation or Virtual Radar Server, is achieved by running a database build application. Web based systems such as FlightRadar 24, Flight Aware and  ADS-B Exchange do not use a personal database and therefore we do not offer integration with those systems.

The mobile application (PADGMobile) utilises a per user custom database to indicate whether or not the aircraft has been previously logged. It runs on both iOS 15.1+ and Android 6.0+ systems.

Some familiarity with PC operations is recommended, but  the group as a whole will offer support and guidance to you. To provide interactive user support, we also recommend the installation of Remote Desktop applications such as AnyDesk or Google Chrome Remote Desktop. Access to users’ systems is always controlled by the user and cannot be performed without users permission.

Though the group will endeavour to resolve any problems, both database and often PC related, the group will not undertake to guarantee the system will run on a non-standard PC setup. It has worked on over 99.99% of all systems that it has been installed on.
